Weary Assumes New Position as Interim Dean of College of Social and Behavioral Sciences

Gifford Weary, chair of the Department of Psychology and a winner of both the Distinguished Scholar and University Distinguished Lecturer awards, will serve as interim dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) beginning July 1, 2008.

An Ohio State faculty member since 1978, Weary received the university’s Distinguished Scholar award in 1984, and the OSU Distinguished Lecturer Award in 2000. Dr. Weary has been elected to fellow status in five professional organizations. In 1998 she served as president of the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. She earned her Ph.D. and M.A. from Vanderbilt University and her B.A. from the University of Kansas.
