SBS Awarded Millions to Save the Planet

With nothing less than the future at stake, Ohio State's new Targeted Investment in Excellence (TIE) program awarded SBS millions in funding to support 2 research projects over the next five years, with the potential to improve the quality of human life and save the planet.

The Climate, Water, and Carbon Program will address issues critical to our environmental health — What is causing abrupt climate change? Are there sufficient quantities of fresh water worldwide? How will climate change and water resources be impacted by fossil fuel combustion? How much will it cost to save the planet?

The Population and Health Initiative will elevate issues of population and health to the center stage of public awareness and attention – we'll look at the causes and implications of population size, growth, composition, migration, and distribution, health services and the economics of health care, mental and physical health, poverty, health and well being, child-bearing, child-rearing, family disruption, and poverty, fertility and mortality, and the impact of mass media on health care campaigns.
